15_JAHRE ENGELSHARFEN+TEUFELSGEIGEN
Das DJ- und Veranstalter*innen-Kollektiv Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen freut sich, sein Jubiläum samt Party mit Live-Konzerten, Soundinstallationen und DJs am 19. Sept. 2025 im Funkhaus Wien bekanntgeben zu dürfen.
2009/10 begann ein gelangweilter Kellner am besucherschwächsten Tag der Woche in einem kleinen Insiderclub im Innenhof der Mariahilfer Straße 101, sich mit Klassik aus der Konserve die Zeit zu vertreiben. Überraschend schnell wurde daraus ein Liebhaberinnen-Jour fixe, der jeden ersten Sonntag im Monat interessierte Gäste und Musikerinnen mit Vorliebe für Nischenklänge ins Elektro Gönner lockte.
Nach etwa einem Jahr war uns bewusst, dass dies die Geburtsstunde eines neuen Formats gewesen war, das fortan den Namen Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen (Tuten + Blasen – keine Ahnung) tragen sollte. Jahrelang blieb das Elektro Gönner die Heimat für die Grenzgänge und Experimente von E+T, angesiedelt zwischen Klassik, Noise, Contemporary, Elektronik und „Tanzmusik für Fortgeschrittene“.
Nach einem Eigentümerwechsel fand das Kollektiv eine Zeit lang im Rhiz ein neues Zuhause, neben Gastspielen in diversen Clubs wie Pratersauna, Grelle Forelle etc., bis durch Covid eine Zwangspause samt Neuerfindung notwendig wurde. Seit 2020 kuratiert E+T eine Soundperformance-Reihe im Kunstverein Ve.Sch – auf der Suche nach Interferenzen mit der Bildenden Kunst.
Dieses Jahr ist Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen 15 Jahre alt geworden, und das wollen wir zum Anlass nehmen, um uns bei allen Weggefährt*innen und einer beständig wachsenden Community mit einem rauschenden Fest zu bedanken. Natürlich mit großartigen Live-Konzerten, Soundinstallationen und einem DJ-Set der E+T-Family.

15_YEARS_OF ENGELSHARFEN+TEUFELSGEIGEN
The DJ & promoter collective Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen is thrilled to celebrate its anniversary with a party featuring live concerts, sound installations, and DJs on September 19, 2025 at Funkhaus Wien.
Back in 2009/10, a bored waiter started passing the slowest day of the week in a small insider club in the courtyard of Mariahilferstrasse 101 by playing classical music from tape. To everyone’s surprise, it quickly turned into a monthly gathering of curious guests and musicians with a taste for niche sounds at Elektro Gönner.
About a year later, we realized this was the birth of a new format – one that would carry the name Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen (don’t ask…).
For years, Elektro Gönner remained home to E+T’s boundary-pushing experiments between classical music, noise, contemporary, electronics, and “dance music for the advanced.” After a change of ownership, the collective moved to Rhiz for a while, with guest appearances at clubs like Pratersauna, Grelle Forelle, and more – until Covid forced a break and reinvention. Since 2020, E+T has been curating a sound performance series at Kunstverein Ve.Sch, seeking intersections with fine art.
This year, Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen turns 15 – and we want to use this occasion to thank all companions and our ever-growing community with a night of celebration. Expect outstanding live concerts, sound installations, and a DJ set from the E+T family.

Between eroticism and the grotesque, the performance unsettles familiar markers: to love the body is to taste excess, to traverse the shift from pleasure to disgust. Here, taste itself is at stake, not as a matter of mere preference, but as a battlefield. Beauty and ugliness are placed on the same plane, while the codes of festivity are subverted to reveal an unstable substance, strained between desire and aversion. In this discomfort, taste breaks free from the role of simple judgment to become a critical force: not a measure, but a space of dialogue, a terrain where each is compelled to take a stance.

Andrea Vezga Acevedo is a costarican/venezuelan maker, performer and booty-centric movement researcher based in Vienna. Drawing from diasporic dance traditions and contemporary forms, her work explores movement as a language of liberation.
Elisabeth Bakambamba Tambwe (host/artistic direction). As an artist, choreographer, and director, Elisabeth B. Tambwe works with different forms and genres: performance, choreography, film, interactive and generative formats, as well as with various dramaturgies and spaces such as installations and stages. She is interested in the emergence of new forms of otherness and the unique relationships and languages they produce. What do they reveal about our humanity, and how do they challenge the concept of anthropocentrism? Her projects are transdisciplinary and collective, aiming to create shared spaces of research between performance art and the social sciences.
HALL – Benjamin Tomasi + Samuel Schaab
Unter dem Namen HALL arbeiten Benjamin Tomasi und Samuel Schaab seit 2017 an der Schnittstelle von Performance, Sound und Skulptur. Ausgangspunkt ist oft der Raum des Geschehens: Wann wird ein Raum zur Bühne, wie werden Objekte zu Performancetools und wie lässt sich Klang unerwartet räumlich integrieren?
In ihrer Performance setzt sich HALL mit dem Laptop als universelles Arbeitsgerät auseinander. Während einer Residency im lithiumreichen Norden Portugals beschäftigten sie sich mit den vielschichtigen Implikationen des Personal Computers. Für LITH treten die beiden Rechner der Künstler in bergigem Gelände ihren Ursprungsmaterialien gegenüber, kämpfen mit dem Wind und verbinden sich in einer klanglichen Feedbackschleife mit der Landschaft. Die Spuren der Performance bleiben als Abnutzungen und Manipulationen in einer Installation sichtbar.
EXTC – Joanna Coleman + Martina Moro
‘EXTC‘ von Joanna Coleman und Martina Moro ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht als eine feministische Antwort auf die patriarchale Körperpolitik zu verstehen. Es geht also buchstäblich darum, sich Raum zu nehmen. In der Interaktion mit den technischen Geräten kommt eine posthumane, hybride und queere Komponente hinzu. Wie Cyborgs zelebrieren sie die Verschränkung von technischen Geräten und dem menschlichen Körper.

“KLIMAX – FLEX”
New sound performance featuring three microphones, three custom-built turntables, and three angle grinder cutting discs. The microphones hang from a wooden structure, while the turntables spin at 33 1/3 RPM, the conventional playback speed. Using a controller, the motor speeds are gradually increased, raising the pitch and creating a polyphonic glissando-like noise harmony. Slowly, the microphones move closer to the now high-speed discs, amplifying the sound and wind generation. When the microphones touch the cutting surfaces, they generate additional sizzling sounds, with sparks flying as they make contact before being worn down and falling silent.
Andreas Trobollowitsch is an Austrian interdisciplinary composer and sound artist whose work spans conceptual compositions, performances, and sound and drawing installations. He employs prepared and self-developed instruments, modified everyday objects, and plants manipulated through rotating systems or transformations of matter. His practice explores the interplay between intellectual concepts and physical processes, integrating visual elements, spatial configurations, architecture, and movement — all with a strong focus on timbre, texture, and playfulness.

Lissie Rettenwander – Surprise Act
Lissie Rettenwander, geboren in Kitzbühel und aufgewachsen auf einem Bauernhof in Gundhabing, beginnt dort ihren musikalischen Weg. Rettenwander lässt sich kompromisslos auf die Gratwanderung zwischen Tradition und Avantgarde ein. Als Composer-Performer arbeitet sie mit Stimme, Zither, Akkordeon, Gitarre, Metronomen, Stimmgabeln, Stoffsingvögeln, Hirtenrufen, Elektronik, Räumen und dem Mini-Verstärker Vox.
„In ihrer Klangwelt entsteht Mehrzeitigkeit und Vielklanglichkeit in Einem. Die Palette der klanglichen Ereignisse ist weit gespannt, ihre Dramaturgie lässt Hörbilder von höchster Intensität und Farbigkeit zu. Unterschiedlichstes führt Lissie Rettenwander mit ihrer Musik zusammen, eben daraus entsteht Einheit in überschäumender Fantasie. Diese Fähigkeit zum Extrem gebiert Neues, macht neugierig und aufmerksam.“ (Wolfgang Praxmarer)

Amar Priganica
Amar Priganica is a composer dedicated to sacred music and the realms of sonic warfare. With academic training as a guitarist and extensive experience in organ performance, field recording, and sound production, his work integrates historical harmonic theories with contemporary sonic practices. His compositions have been performed internationally, and he has engaged widely in interdisciplinary collaborations exploring the psychological and therapeutic potentials of sound. Currently based in Vienna, Priganica’s doctoral research investigates sacred harmonic structures through acoustic experimentation, focusing particularly on the confluence of ecclesiastical acoustics and sonic power dynamics.
At Funkhaus he is going to present an organ piece from his upcoming album „they muddy the water to make it seem deep“
E+T DJ-Set – Tanzmusik für Fortgeschrittene
Das DJ- und Veranstalter*innen-Kollektiv E+T Engelsharfen+Teufelsgeigen lotet seit 2010 die Grenzen zwischen U_Musik und E_Musik aus und hat sich im Laufe der Zeit eine ganz eigene UE_bergangszone erspielt, in der mit großer Lust und ernsthaftem Humor Klassische Musik, Zeitgenössisches, Experimentelles und Elektronisches in Form von Live-Konzerten, Performances und DJ-Sets miteinander konfrontiert werden.
